Take in the natural beauty and history of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers at the Confluence Gallery. Grab a front-row seat and watch hundreds of freshwater fish swim around and above you. You’ll lose track of time sitting amongst the largemouth bass, crappie, dogfish, and longnose gar in our St. Louis Aquarium.
Visit South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia without leaving St. Louis! In the Global Rivers gallery, you’ll explore the home of legendary “river monsters” like the doctor fish, Arowana, redtail catfish, and piranha. Nature, you so crazy.
Bail on the scales! Visit the warm-blooded animals within our interactive Changing Rivers exhibit. Catch a glimpse of river otters during recess or at naptime. Say “hi” to a sloth as it does sloth-y things. Befriend an owl or two. Or simply play around on the water table and build a dam.
Splash in the tidal pools of the Ocean Shore gallery and get to know some of the most intriguing sea animals living in our Union Station aquarium. Touch scary-looking-yet-docile horseshoe crabs. Pet a sea cucumber. Gently nudge a pencil urchin. Massage a stingray or shark. The shallow oceans are awash with amazing creatures!
Shark Canyon is perhaps the coolest attraction at the St. Louis Aquarium. The 250,000-gallon tank is home to some of Earth’s most majestic predators, such as the gray reef shark, devil ray, surgeonfish, and giant grouper. Over 80 species of marine life can be found swimming within Shark Canyon, and if you’re lucky you’ll get to watch them during dinnertime! Steven Spielberg, eat your heart out.
Dive even further into the dark abyss of our oceans to watch jellyfish, sea dragons, and octopuses coexist amongst the coral. You may even get a glimpse of prehistoric fangtooths, gulper eels, and deep-sea creatures that produce light!
